Laughter, the saving grace of parenting

Henry

Tonight I was making dinner and Henry begged me to pick him up so he could peek at what was cookin'. Of course I complied (his name means "lord of the house", you know) and he looked at some browned ground beef in the sink and loudly asked, "POOP????

Susanna

Today Susanna wore her dance recital costume to school; the one she wore when she was three years old. She still looked beautiful in it!

Growing up

I can't believe how much Noah has grown up since I wrote those quotes in August. He still says some non-sequitor things, but at least I can make sense of most of what he says. It has really helped our communication and he is really pleasant to hang out with all day long.

He and Henry have become great friends lately, and they like to play spontaneously together. They have a favorite game called "bump bumps" where they sit on a blanket and bump down the stairs.

Of course they get on each other's nerves, and Noah has gotten into the habit of referring to Henry as "Bad Boy" when he's doing something wrong. So now Henry has started called Noah "Bad Boy." It's actually pretty cute.

Today we slid down the hill covered in dead grass on broken cardboard boxes. Lots of fun. The tornado sirens went off for their "first Monday" ritual, and Henry got scared and said, "I'm sorry, Noise!"

Waiting for Godot....er....I mean...Noah Quotes

Noah: (referring to Henry's silky hair) Mom! Feel that softness! It feels like a skunk's...Henry, do you feel like a skunk?
Mom: It feels like a skunk's what?
Noah: A skunk's tail.

Noah: (while watching youtube videos sitting on my lap with Henry) We haven't seen this one, right Dry Patch?
Mom: "Dry Patch?" Why am I "Dry Patch"?
Noah: Cuz you have sticks on ya. Henry's a stick and I'm a stick.

Noah also spent the day casually addressing me as "Big Boy".

What in the world do I write?

I've thought about doing this for a while now, but now that I'm on this page I have no idea what to write. I need to vow not to overthink anything....just write something. Okay.

There are so many funny, strange, annoying, or somewhat noteworthy things that happen throughout my day with three kids, that I have decided this would be a great way to record some of them. If not, days just seem to blend together as non-specific memories. I would like to remember details about my adventure as a "hang-out-with-my-kids-all-day-long" mom.
